For nearly a century, the Jews of Mashhad lived in a state of constant friction with their Shiite neighbors. Tensions finally erupted into violence on March 26, 1839. On that day, a false accusation led to a blood libel and massacre in which dozens of Jews were murdered, young Jewish girls forcibly married to Muslims (meaning, legally RAPED for life), and Jewish homes and businesses looted and burned.

The Iranian Jewish community’s seven Torah scrolls were seized by Shiite clerics, and legend has it that they remain hidden within the walls of the city’s main mosque – the Imam Reza Shrine – to this very day. A THEFT of an Indigenous people’s sacred ancestral writings!

The next day, members of the Iranian Jewish community were faced with a cruel choice: convert to Islam or to die. Thus, for some 120 years, these Jadid al-Islam (“new Muslims”) led a double life of prayers and Jewish rituals held in secret, including the wearing of tefillin, which were kept away from the ever-prying eyes of authorities and neighbors.

Outwardly, they were devout Muslims, fasting during Ramadan, attending prayers at the mosque, and dressing in traditional Muslim attire. Yet from birth, each child had two names: an official Muslim name and a secret Jewish name. YES, this is a common practice, not just amongst captured “forced” Jews, but even amongst Jewish communities worldwide – even though a “secret” indigenous Jewish name does not apply.

Like the anusim of Spain, it was the women of the community who became the primary guardians of Jewish life in Mashhad. Observance of Jewish laws within the home rested largely in their hands — taharat mishpachah (family purity), Shabbat, kosher food, burial rites, and, most importantly, the ethno-religious education of children (language, laws, origin stories, and customs).

If you want proof, look at the first chapter of “Genesis”, wherein a gifted Jewish seer – over 2,700 years ago (a cosmologist) – tries to explain in his/her Six Days of Creation sacred story what scientists of the 20th century calls the “Big Bang” and the “evolution of our planet Earth”.

18 And it will come to pass on that day, when Gog [the self-serving self-righteous antisemites/antizionists] comes against the land of Israel, declares Y-HWH [the land god of Israel], that My blazing indignation will flame in My nostrils! יחוְהָיָ֣ה | בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא בְּי֨וֹם בּ֥וֹא גוֹג֙ עַל־אַדְמַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה תַּֽעֲלֶ֥ה חֲמָתִ֖י בְּאַפִּֽי:

19 For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken; Surely there shall be a great noise on THAT day in the land of Israel. יטוּבְקִנְאָתִ֥י בְאֵֽשׁ־עֶבְרָתִ֖י דִּבַּ֑רְתִּי אִם־לֹ֣א | בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא יִֽהְיֶה֙ רַ֣עַשׁ גָּד֔וֹל עַ֖ל אַדְמַ֥ת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:

20 And at My presence, the fishes of the sea and the birds of the heaven and the beasts of the field and all the creeping things that creep upon the earth and all the men who are upon the surface of the earth shall QUAKE, and all the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall to the ground. כוְרָֽעֲשׁ֣וּ מִפָּנַ֡י דְּגֵ֣י הַיָּם֩ וְע֨וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם וְחַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה וְכָל־הָרֶ֙מֶשׂ֙ הָֽרֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל־הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה וְכֹל֙ הָ֣אָדָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֑ה וְנֶֽהֱרְס֣וּ הֶֽהָרִ֗ים וְנָֽפְלוּ֙ הַמַּדְרֵג֔וֹת וְכָל־חוֹמָ֖ה לָאָ֥רֶץ תִּפּֽוֹל:

22 And I will judge against him with pestilence and with blood, and rain bringing floods, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone will I rain down upon him and upon his hordes and upon the many peoples that are with him. כבוְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֥י אִתּ֖וֹ בְּדֶ֣בֶר וּבְדָ֑ם וְגֶ֣שֶׁם שׁוֹטֵף֩ וְאַבְנֵ֨י אֶלְגָּבִ֜ישׁ אֵ֣שׁ וְגָפְרִ֗ית אַמְטִ֚יר עָלָיו֙ וְעַל־אֲגַפָּ֔יו וְעַל־עַמִּ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ:

23 And I will reveal Myself [Y-HWH, the land god of Israel] in My greatness and in My holiness and will be recognized in the eyes of many nations, and they will know that I am “the Lord”. כגוְהִתְגַּדִּלְתִּי֙ וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתִּ֔י וְנ֣וֹדַעְתִּ֔י לְעֵינֵ֖י גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֑ים וְיָֽדְע֖וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה:

3 – IT IS Persia, our neighboring SWA nation friend from a distance, that is – turns out historically and prophetically – THE reason that Israel is under THREAT of extinction from WORLDWIDE NON-Jew forces, and this presently corresponds with present day regional VIOLENTLY oppressive Islamic Republic 🇮🇷 OCCUPATION of our SWA Indigenous allies, the Iranian people!

BUT, STILL YET, we Jews are NOT convinced that this is actually Jewish indigenous prophecies of the ancestors unfolding! WHY?!

4 – There are MANY “mashiach”s in our Jewish people’s tradition AND not all of them need to be Jewish, much less the direct loin descendant of King David. Further, for the warrior Mashiach (the Jewish Messiah) to arrive, the priestly Mashiach must come first. Yes, two mashiachs are the heart of our Jewish people’s vision for a world of PEACE and SECURITY upon our sacred ancestral Canaan land of Israel.

AND, even THIS, is NOT enough to create the “Messianic Age” of ALL nations laying their weapons down and lions eating grass with the cows and sheep! Why?!

5 – The Jewish people of Zion, our sacred ancestral Canaan land of Israel, we are WARNED to never predict the arrival of the Mashiach, because we DO NOT know – either – as fellow human beings upon our SHARED sacred planet Earth 🌍🌏🌎!!! Only the Creator god knows when we humans will choose peace and cooperation IN ALL OUR PARTICULAR diversities to be worthy of “Heaven” upon the “land”.

And, MOST IMPORTANTLY,…

6 – The coming of the warrior Mashiach that brings the Messianic Age of peace and security to our ENTIRE planet Earth REQUIRES that the Jewish people “teshuvah” – which is often misrepresented as “repent” (which is a Christian enforced word), but actually means LITERALLY to “return” to our Jewish people’s sacred ancestral Canaan indigenous lifeways.
