When the world was created, ha’Shem the Creator god, who is also referred to as “Ein Sof” (literally “without end, infinite”), created an intricate mystical system that is referred to in our Jewish people’s Kabbalah as the Ten Sefirot (the Tree of Life). PLEASE, listen to our Indigenous story! Let us tell you the history of the people of Mow, the Mowish people. They lived in a sacred ancestral land between two other peoples’ sacred ancestral lands. To the north of the people of Mow lived the people of Aege, the Aegean people. And to the south of the people of Mow lived the people of Dae, the Daesh people. To visit each other’s lands required over 25 days galloping on horseback, for their lands of Indigenous sovereignty were quite distant from each other. BUT, they knew of each other!
The Mowish people spoke the unique language of their people, Canaani. Its conspiracy theories told of the corruption of princes and well poisoning. Disguised as piety, anti-Jewish violence erupted in mass burnings, expulsions, inquisitions, and pogroms.
Then came antisemitism, which hates Jews for their race. Antisemitic libels cast Jews as communists, capitalists, and race-polluters. Conspiracy theories were updated: Jews were turned from well-poisoners to back-stabbers. Antisemitism disguised itself behind myths of racial purity and national strength. Far-right violence soon emerged, from the Black Hundreds, to the killing fields of the Holocaust.
Next came antizionism. Antizionism hates Jews not for their religion or race, but for their nation. It targets Israel, the single Jewish nation, and libels it: colonizer, apartheid, and genocide. Its conspiracy theories accuse Israel of plans for regional or world domination. Its violence has ethnically cleansed Jews across the Middle East and former-USSR, and is already spilling into the West, re-coding ordinary Jews as “the Zionists” deemed worthy of stigma and violence.
All three iterations of Jew Hatred are rooted in the logic of supercessionism—the impulse to eliminate Jews to redeem the world—and all three repeat the same cycle over and over: libel, conspiracy, stigma, violence, and denial. Each version merely swaps in new libels and selects a different aspect of Jewish identity to attack. The content of the libels is secondary to how society wields them: repeated obsessively, until they succeed in demonizing the Jews, justifying and sanctifying anti-Jewish violence.”

First, a question: What makes an Indigenous people? Generations of stories, lived history, and a belief in being “indigenous” within a region of land does NOT make you Indigenous. At best, this makes you a Native community of people living upon Indigenous peoples’ lands as if you were “indigenous”. So,…
What makes an Indigenous people? A founding event upon the land that makes your people uniquely different from other surrounding peoples, who also had their founding event of Indigenous identity upon this region of land. Further, with this Indigenous founding event comes a unique form of Indigenous language, ethno-religious lifeways and laws, and archaeological evidence of historical presence!
With this now defined, we Jews can offer TWO distinct examples of indigenous “pretendians” that our Southwest Asia originating Canaan people have had to wrestle with firsthand:
Let’s start with the colonial USA 🇺🇸. The Black Hebrew Israelite movement was created by African-Americans at the end of the 19th century, and claim to be the original “Israelites” and from the SWA Indigenous people’s tribe of Judah in Canaan Israel. Their founders, Frank Cherry and William Saunders Crowdy, both claimed to have received visions that African Americans are descendants of the Hebrews in “the Bible” (the Christian colonizer’s “Holy Bible”).
When your ancestral history, language and lifeways are literally stripped from you through European and Arab slaveowning, you latch onto still surviving Indigenous peoples that are most familiar to you! Such is, sadly, the historical reality with the Black Hebrew Israelites of the colonial USA 🇺🇸. As much as the Commandment Keepers cosplay as Jews, they are NOT Jews – until legally recognized by our people of Israel, full stop 🛑!
There is only one BHI synagogue that has undergone formal Indigenous “conversion” – meaning, ruled as Jewish by a beit din, in a Jewish people’s court of law, for having met the legal definition of being “Jewish” (“a Jew”). The rest are pretendians who are cosplaying as the Jewish people – “the Jews” who are literally the still surviving and STILL unassimilated Israelites of/from Zion, our sacred ancestral Canaan land of Israel.
Now, let’s go ACROSS the sea to Southwest Asia 🪬☀️🕎🔥🌿✊🏼, the Levant land region where upon Jews had our Indigenous founding event as a unique Canaan people within our greater Canaan! Here, too, we SWA Indigenous peoples have pretendians who are trying to convince this ENTIRE world that they are somehow the “indigenous” for forcibly colonizing our SWA region’s sacred ancestral lands.
From our very Canaanite Hebrew language these pretendians chose their name for their “people” (in 1964). They call themselves “Palestinians” and wave the pre-WW1 Arab Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz ARABIA 🇵🇸 flag that existed down 👇 South of Southwest Asia! The name Palestinian literally refers to “those who rolled in, invaders, occupiers” in our Jewish people’s Canaanite Hebrew language. And they wilfully choose NOT to understand this!
Still yet, out of 14 plus million Arab Palestinian political land-squatters upon our historic Jewish people’s sacred ancestral Canaan land of Israel, we have over 2 million of them as actual citizens with equal rights to Jews in our 1948 forcibly decolonized Indigenous nation of Israel. THESE Arabs are ZIONIST as much as Jews within sovereign Israel! The rest are political land-squatting pretendians 🇵🇸 upon our sovereign Israeli land – to force an END to the Jewish people having self-determining sovereignty that equates Jews as equals to colonial Arab Muslims 🪬🕎🇮🇱✊🏼.
We have NO RIGHT to tell you, Turtle Island Indigenous peoples who are occupied by the United States of Colonial America 🇺🇸, how to address YOUR pretendians. We ONLY know how we SWA peoples’ define being “Indigenous”. WITH THIS SAID, we SWA Indigenous Jews of/from Zion, our sacred ancestral Canaan land of Israel, HOPE that you’ll consider our 3,500 years of Indigenous survival experience! MEANING, our Jewish definition of being “Indigenous”.

If we reduce sovereignty to “looking Native,” or to how a story makes us feel, then every tribe in this country becomes vulnerable to groups who assemble a narrative, stitch together a costume, or borrow the language of oppression. Identity becomes performance. Nationhood becomes aesthetics. And sovereignty becomes whatever someone can convince Congress to feel in a given moment.”
Perhaps the Lumbee people are like the Black Hebrew Israelites of the USA 🇺🇸? In need of legal guidance for being IN-BETWEEN Colonizer and Indigenous? Just a thought for worldwide Indigenous peoples’ successful decolonization upon our sacred ancestral lands!
This is “WHY” those mistaking the Jewish people as simply a “religion” – because European and Arab colonizers declare us so – and come to “convert” to Judaism, Judah-people-ism, get the door slammed in their faces, multiple times!
