Look at the snapshot below \u2013 world religions? One of these things, the native ethno-religion Judaism, is NOT like the others \u2013 northern Aegean created Colonial Christianity and southern Hejaz Arabia created Colonial Islam! There are 15.2 million Jews worldwide, with near half in Israel defending our decolonized nation from Christian and Muslim colonization. This does not in any way equal 2.3 billion proselytizes to Colonial Christianity and 1.9 billion proselytizes to Colonial Islam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Judaism<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Jewish people are not a monolith. Meaning, all the same in thought and belief. Our Judaism, Judea-people-ism, is definitely not a world religion, rather the ethno-religion of our Judean-orignating people. Thus, Judaism is very unlike the theology\/ideology based Colonial religions of Christianity, Islam, and Marxism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of these three non-Jew world religions, northern Aegean created Christianity and southern Hejaz created Islam, appropriate from and distort our Jewish ancestral writings to fit their absolutist conquesting theologies. This is why socially dominating Christianity and Islam try so badly to characterize Jews and Judaism as being like Christianity and Islam \u2013 an always ahistorical lie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are still to this very day different forms of communal expressions of natively Indigenous Judea-people-ism: pre-Maimonides henotheistic Judaism, post-Maimonides monotheistic Judaism, post-Shoah atheistic Judaism, and inherent cultural Judaism. There are Rabbinic Jews, Karaite Jews, Samaritan Jews, etc. There are Mizrahi Jews, Sephardi Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What ties all the Jewish people together as one Judean people from the Canaan land of Israel is our ancestral writings \u2013 most importantly, our Torah scroll \u2013 our Canaanite Hebrew language, and our native Judea-originating Jewish people\u2019s laws \u2013 that define who we are and who are not us, and that we wrestle with in order to present to this world in an authentic Indigenously Jewish way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meaning, Jews want and need to survive intact as the last surviving people of the land of Canaan \u2013 despite the endless Christian and Muslim antisemitic targeting of our Judean people for refusing to assimilate into Colonial culture and for rejecting their Christian and Muslim claims to our Canaan land of Israel, our ancestors who are found within our ancestral writings, and their idea that our Judean Creator god is the same as their conquesting Colonial \u201cGod\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is for the neverending Jewish hope for peace and security for our Canaan people, that we Jews have had to lie to ourselves over the last 1,600 years that \u2013 one day \u2013 the Christian and Muslim colonial majority will begin to listen to us. Yes, to us Jews, who are the native Jewish people of the land of Israel. The people whose personal names, the names of our Judean cities, and whose ancestral writings (our TaNaKH scrolls) have been forcibly, racistly, and violently spread around this planet Earth by non-Jews!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non-Jews, who feel privileged and entitled to speak for us Jews from the Canaan Judean land of Israel about us Jews \u2013 even call themselves \u201cJews\u201d by \u201cfaith\u201d, knowing full well that they are not by legal status. All because Colonial Christianity and Colonial Islam want to put us Jews into a characteristic box of similarity to their pure absolutist theology religions, so that they can lay claim to our Southwest Asia native land and our very Judean indigenous identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, while Christians and Muslims endlessly try to \u201cconvert\u201d\/\u201drevert\u201d our ever resistant native Jewish people, while not understanding what a Jew is, they also try to reinvent them Colonial selves into an \u201cethnicity\u201d, like the Jewish people of the land of Israel. We Jews find it weird when Christians and Muslims claim to be an \u201cethnicity\u201d and when some claim to be Christian\/Muslim \u201catheists\u201d. Very weird, for this is fundamentally a no-thing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be a Christian, you have to embrace the northern Aegean created \u201cJesus Christ\u201d god (-in-flesh) as your \u201cpersonal savior and Lord\u201d to worship. To be a Muslim, you have to embrace the southern Hejaz created \u201cAllah\u201d as your god and forcibly execute Allah\u2019s laws everywhere. You cannot be a believer in Christ\/Allah and also be someone who doesn\u2019t believe in any gods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is simply the inherent way and nature of Colonial absolutist religions. You either are or you are not, make your choice, full stop! And, this is why we Jews refuse to ever settle our native selves around a singular theology\/ideology. With this said, what is Judaism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 613 mitzvot don\u2019t make you religious or pious. By embracing and wrestling with them, they simply express the Jew in you. They draw you into a relationship to your land and your Judean people. They draw you towards the god-King of the land of Israel that your ancestors\u2019 believed in. The mitzvot are the many ways that we Jews can express this in our daily, weekly, monthly, seasonally, and yearly lives. Every mitzvah engaged in counts, and every Jew is precious! This is Judaism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel is NOT to be blamed for the sufferings caused by the Arab Palestinian fighters for Islamic HAMAS occupation and depraved terrorisms upon Gazans and Israelis. Arab Palestinians for HAMAS terrorism and Arab Colonialism upon Southwest Asia Indigenous peoples\u2019 lands is Colonial \u201cPalestine\u201d, which is Israeli and Kurdish peoples\u2019 lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the \u201clight\u201d for all still surviving Indigenous nations in Southwest Asia and worldwide, Israel is the still surviving first decolonized \u201cunderdog\u201d nation \u2013 having to survive constant physical and political attacks upon her Indigenous sovereignty by European and Arab Conquistadors for Colonial Allah, Christ, and Marx ruling dominionism upon all Indigenous Peoples\u2019 lands. From the Tigris river to the Mediterranean sea, Jews and Kurds will one day be free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Congressional member reactions to Israel\u2019s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s address to the United States\u2019 Joint Meeting of Congress is quite revealing about the present state of the citizens of the Colonial nation known as the United States. A distinctly clear division has been occurring between the elder generation, who still remembers, and the younger generation, who have sadly not been taught!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is so easy to see even in the reactions of the elder Christians, both Republican and Democrat, both \u201cwhite\u201d and \u201cblack, this social dynamic playing out. And PM Netanyahu threw more than enough \u201cred meat\u201d out in his speech to show clearly who are the \u201cuseful idiots\u201d on BOTH sides of the USA political aisles. It was quite the insightful view!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two stark dynamics that are socially occurring amongst the citizens of the Colonial United States is the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) The Christians \u201cof color\u201d, both elder and younger generations, don\u2019t like to hear a proud Jew saying that Israel is and always will be Jewish land, and \u201cwhite\u201d Christians are utterly oblivious to this Native Israeli stance about our Jewish land of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2a) The elder generation remembers what Jews had to literally physically do, in order to reestablish our Indigenous nation upon our Arab Muslim occupied Judean land, in order to ensure that the Jewish people of Israel are NEVER ever a victim of another European-Arab multi-continent Nazi genocide. And that to this day, Israelis are still having to survive \u201cracist\u201d anti-Indigenous Arab settler occupations, attempted terrorisms and genocides, and constant warfare attacks by surrounding Arab\/Islamic nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2b) The younger generation, having been fed all their lives social media misinformation and disinformation about the Native Judean people\u2019s land of Israel and about our forcibly decolonized and restored self-sovereignty, see Israel as the most powerful nation in Southwest Asia \u2013 NOT as the still surviving \u201cunderdog\u201d nation having to survive constant physical and political attacks upon her Indigenous sovereignty, which is the lived actual reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, add to this Colonial USA social dynamic ABOUT Jews\/Israelis and our Israel, we have the non-Christians: the Marxist indoctrinated, the successfully colonized Jews (some who were raised in Native yeshiva then went into Colonial politics), and the Arab\/Muslim antisemites (anti-Indigenous racists) who call Arab\/Muslim Conquistadors upon Southwest Asia the \u201cindigenous\u201d of the lands that they have conquested and colonized for depravedly violent and religiously supremacist \u201callahu akbar\u201d ruling dominionism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our neighboring SWANA Indigenous Kurds, Balochs, Assyrians (etc) are literally erased from this whole discussion! For, if it is NOT about native Jews\/Israelis defending our ancestral land, our sovereignty, and our Israeli people from European and Arab \u201cPalestinian\u201d settler Colonialism, then it is NOT news to be shared and spread. No matter what horrors the Arabs\/Islamists have committed and are still committing upon our less \u201cpowerful\u201d still surviving SWANA Indigenous nations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel is the first Indigenous nation to successfully forcibly decolonize and hold our defensive ground upon our Native land for national sovereignty. Israel is 3 times smaller than the Navajo Nation reservation in the United States of Colonial \u201cAmerica\u201d. Israel is still post-1948 Arab settler occupied by the United (Colonial) Nations\u2019 UNRWA funding \u2013 all to prevent our peaceful and secure decolonization and self-sovereignty upon our SWANA land and to FORCE a \u201ctwo-state solution\u201d between native Israelis and Arab Conquistadors!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israelis \u2013 native Jews, Druze, Bedouin, and formerly-indigenous Arabized Israeli citizens of Israel \u2013 are NOT understood by the citizens of Colonial Arab and European nations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed the U.S. and Israel \u201cmust stand together\u201d as the world is in a state of \u201cupheaval.\u201d The prime minister addressed lawmakers during a joint meeting of Congress. Outside, thousands of protesters gathered to protest his speech. Prime Minister Netanyahu criticized demonstrators and said they stand with hate and Hamas murderers. He also called them \u201cIran\u2019s useful idiots\u201d saying Iran funded the demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meaning while, the anti-Jew\/Israel protestors outside burned Israeli and American flags, raised the Colonial \u201cPalestine\u201d flag on U.S. Congress grounds, and chanted for Arab Palestinian fighters for Islamic HAMAS terrorists to come to America to finish what these terrorists started upon Israelis and Gazans in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Netanyahu\u2019s speech lasted nearly one hour. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a colonial Palestinian-American who is against the Israel-Hamas War and against the very existence of the successfully decolonized self-sovereign Indigenous nation of Israel, could be seen holding up an antisemitic \u201cwar criminal\u201d-\u201cguilty of genocide\u201d sign during the speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was prolific. He wrote numerous seforim and published countless articles, but the crowning masterpiece is his new translation of all of Maimonides\u2019 works that were written in Arabic. (The Guide, the Mishnah commentary, etc.) Rav Kafach was a native speaker of the language and thus set about to produce a new translation of his works. He was a meticulous scholar, laboring endlessly on every word, thus making sure that the Hebrew precisely conveys what Rambam was saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His translation was revolutionary, and resulted in many far-reaching changes in our understanding of some of Maimonides\u2019 ideas and tropes. For scholars of Rambam there is the pre-Kafach era and the post-Kafach era. His work transformed the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One can provide many examples of his transformative impact but for me personally the most important chiddush was one that caused some tremors in the foundations of my faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Rambam\u2019s books is called Sefer HaMitzvot. In it he enumerates the 613 commandments, the first one of which is the commandment to have faith. We are obligated to \u201cbelieve\u201d in the existence of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pretty simple and straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Rav Kafach came along, reread the Arabic and said that we got it wrong, the translation is incorrect, etymologically and philosophically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should read as follows: we are obligated to KNOW that God exists. The commandment is to KNOW it, not merely to BELIEVE it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That pulled the rug from under the foundations of my own faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a matter of faith, I BELIEVE that God exists, but I don\u2019t KNOW it as a scientific (philosophical) and empirical fact. In fact, I don\u2019t believe that such a thing is KNOWABLE in an empirical sense. There is no EVIDENCE of God\u2019s existence\u2013at least not any that I have seen and found convincing. As far as I can tell all the PROOFS that have been proffered over the years turned out to be flawed and insufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We therefore can\u2019t KNOW that God exists, we however can choose to BELIEVE that it is so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, not only can\u2019t we know, we also should not want to know. If one knows empirically that God exists they are missing out on what most of classical Judaism thinks is the core essence of the Mitzva\u2013Rambam notwithstanding. Conventionally understood, we are commanded to subserviently accept God\u2019s existence in spite of the fact that we cannot prove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, according to Rav Kafach translation of Rambam, merely \u201cBELIEVING\u201d in God\u2019s existence is insufficient. Such a person fails to fulfill the very first commandment and is considered to be one without faith. And that \u201cfaithless\u201d person would be me. We are supposed to KNOW that God exists and I, as much as I FEEL God\u2019s existence in every fiber of my being, I don\u2019t think I will ever know it as an empirical and provable fact. If faith means \u201cKNOWING\u201d that there is a God I am doomed to be a person without faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be that as it may, Rav Kafach\u2019s contribution to Jewish learning and Jewish thought is immeasurable, especially the bright new light he shone on Maimonides, and today is the day we remember and celebrate this great and enormous mind, whose torah is vast and deep. \u05d0\u05e8\u05d5\u05db\u05d4 \u05de\u05d0\u05e8\u05e5 \u05de\u05d3\u05d4 \u05d5\u05e8\u05d7\u05d1\u05d4 \u05de\u05e0\u05d9 \u05d9\u05dd.
